The Digital Literacy Challenge

Digital Literacy Challenge

The school librarian and I run a digital literacy challenge every two weeks, taking turns to challenge the school student and faculty population to an online task that introduces new websites and experiences. For two teachers without regularly scheduled classes or students we try to instruct beyond the walls and outside of the bell schedule. We post the challenge on the school online learning platform schoolloop on a Sunday afternoon, and it stays on their calendar for two weeks. This is designed to catch the attention of students logging on to complete their weekend homework. The Digital Literacy Challenge is also included in the Morning Announcements each day. The last challenge was an online study session using wiziq, featured here.

The latest challenge introduces everyone to Google News, Wordle.net and Jing
