The Twitter Effect Day Two

This is the second day of a 30 day personal record of how using twitter impacts my personal learning and professional development.

Follow up from the literacy discussion yesterday, the ellluminate session archive is athttp://budurl.com/litarchive

I got a dm(direct message) from @elizabethholmes. Nice touch to dm a new followee: Her blog post http://21stcenturion.blogspot.com/

My highlight,

“These skills were advanced and are often referred to as 21st century skills:
critical thinking
apply knowledge
analyze information
comprehend new ideas
communicate
collaborate
problem solve
making decisions
Now, I know you say these skills have always been important, Ben. I agree. The point, however, is not whether the skills are important or not. It is well established that the skills are important. The point is whether or not we are teaching these skills and students are learning them in schools.”

It seems that twitter is a frustrating place to have an in depth discussion, it seems elluminate is too. Not sure of next steps, but it was a treat to participate and has left me thinking.

On to today’s tweets:

experimonths

RT (retweet) by @KathySierra caught my attentionhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/10ch/3163499880/in/photostream/

My January experimonth is this blog series! Will have to think about the next 11 months, a fun activity.

I like the simplicity of the graphic. Reminds me of Keri Smith

mwesch

Followed @mwesch post about diigo, evernote and tiddlywiki, because I have used tiddlywiki and it would be useful to find out his comparisons. Grabbed this quote

“We will also be using a WetPaint wiki (much easier to use than Mediawiki) for building up an interlinked collection of more refined insights and conclusions. I’m not too concerned with students getting literate in the technicalities of MediaWiki. I’m more concerned with them getting literate in the art of collaboration, so making the technology as easy as possible will help in this regard.”

Synchronistic, succinct, and widely applicable.

FYI: I now run small (2-4 people) classes and individual online tech sessions
